We provide access to a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, echocardiogram, mammogram, DEXA and X-Ray scans. Your scan is carried out at trusted imaging centres using modern diagnostic equipment, with reports provided by appropriately qualified clinical specialists.

You do not need to decide this alone. One of our experienced doctors will review your symptoms, medical history and clinical concerns, then recommend the most appropriate scan based on your individual needs.

No. You do not need to obtain a referral from your own GP before booking with PrivateScans, and there is no self-referral process for you to complete.

After you book and pay for your scan consultation, a doctor from our medical team will contact you to take the relevant clinical details, including your symptoms, medical history and concerns. They will then advise on the most appropriate scan and prepare a referral for your chosen scanning centre where clinically appropriate.

Appointments are usually available within 2–3 days of booking. Same-day and next-day appointments may also be available at selected scan centres, depending on scan type, location and clinical availability.

After your scan, the scanning centre will send the imaging report to our clinical team for review. We will then contact you to discuss the findings and explain any recommended next steps.

Your written report will be emailed to you in PDF format. Results are typically shared within 3–5 working days of your scan, although this can vary and may be quicker in many cases. Digital copies of your scan images can also be provided where required for onward care.

Your booking includes the key clinical and diagnostic steps needed to guide you safely through the process:

• A pre-scan telephone consultation with a member of our medical team.
• A written medical referral prepared from the information discussed during your consultation, where clinically appropriate.
• Your scan at the chosen scanning centre.
• A written imaging report prepared by a consultant radiologist or relevant specialist clinician.
• Access to downloadable copies of your scan images where required.
• A post-scan consultation to discuss your results and next steps where needed.

• MRI scans: Provide detailed imaging of organs, soft tissues, joints, the brain, spine and nervous system. They are commonly used to investigate neurological, spinal, joint and soft-tissue concerns.
• CT scans: Use X-Rays to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body, supporting assessment of internal injury, tumours, organs, bones and complex clinical concerns.
• Ultrasound scans: Use sound waves to assess soft tissues, organs and blood flow in real time, including abdominal, pelvic, vascular and selected musculoskeletal concerns.
• Echocardiogram: A cardiac ultrasound used to assess how the heart pumps, how the valves function and how blood flows through the heart.
• Mammogram: A specialist low-dose breast X-Ray used to assess breast tissue and detect early changes or abnormalities.
• DEXA scans: Measure bone mineral density and can help assess bone strength, fracture risk and conditions such as osteoporosis.
• X-Rays: Commonly used to assess fractures, joint changes, chest infections and other conditions where fast, clear imaging is required.
