Sexual health
This group checks for common sexually transmitted infections using the appropriate blood, urine or swab markers included in the selected profile.
Chlamydia PCR
This molecular test looks for genetic material from Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia can be present without symptoms and untreated infection can cause reproductive complications.
Gonorrhoea PCR
This molecular test detects genetic material from Neisseria gonorrhoeae, the bacterium that causes gonorrhoea. Infection may be asymptomatic and requires appropriate treatment if detected.
Hepatitis B surface antigen
Hepatitis B surface antigen is a marker that can indicate a current hepatitis B infection. Positive results normally require confirmatory assessment and medical follow-up.
Hepatitis C antibodies
Hepatitis C antibody testing checks whether the immune system has been exposed to hepatitis C virus. A reactive result does not by itself prove current infection and is usually followed by confirmatory viral testing.
HIV 1 & 2 antibodies / p24 antigen
This combined screening test looks for HIV-1/2 antibodies and the p24 antigen, allowing infection to be detected earlier than antibody testing alone. Reactive screening results require confirmatory testing.
Syphilis IgM/IgG
This test looks for antibodies associated with infection by Treponema pallidum, the bacterium that causes syphilis. Positive results are interpreted with confirmatory testing and clinical history.
